About Kōhī Kurabu

Our Story

How a quiet corner in Marikina became the neighborhood's favorite gathering place

Built for the Neighborhood, Brewed with Intention

Kōhī Kurabu — which translates to "Coffee Club" in Japanese — was founded by Jamir and Louie with a straightforward ambition: create a specialty cafe that actually belongs to the community it lives in. In a city like Marikina that punches above its weight for culture and craft, they saw a gap for a neighborhood anchor that combined serious coffee knowledge with an unhurried, genuinely welcoming atmosphere.

They found their space inside Golden Valley Subdivision in Brgy. Malanday — a gray building just beside South Supermarket. The industrial bones of the unit became the canvas: raw concrete walls, exposed dark ceiling beams, warm pendant lighting, and a mix of plush accent chairs and minimalist tables. The result feels intentional without being pretentious — a place where you can stay for an hour or an afternoon without feeling rushed out.

The Japanese name isn't decoration. From the moment you order, the philosophy is clear: ceremonial-grade matcha is whisked the proper way with a bamboo chasen, hojicha is handled with the same care, and every espresso is pulled with precision. Kōhī Kurabu quickly earned a reputation in Marikina not just for good coffee, but for being owners who genuinely care about quality without the pretentious markup.

Our Philosophy

Craft Without Ceremony

Exceptional coffee doesn't need to come with attitude. We use ceremonial-grade matcha, precision espresso, and hand-selected teas because quality matters — but we serve every order with warmth and none of the pretension you'll find in some specialty cafes. The coffee is serious. The vibe is easy.

A Genuine Third Place

Home is first, work is second — the Kurabu is the third place. We designed the space intentionally for extended stays: outlets at every table, reliable WiFi, comfortable seating, and enough acoustic breathing room to focus or to simply be. Students, freelancers, pet owners, and neighbors are equally at home here.

Community First

We exist because of Marikina, and we give back to Marikina. From special seasonal cups that celebrate local moments to a pet-friendly policy that makes the whole family welcome, we measure success not just by cups sold but by the smiles we put on people's faces — one carefully brewed cup at a time.

What We Believe

01

Quality is non-negotiable

From ceremonial-grade matcha to freshly roasted hojicha, we refuse to compromise on ingredients — because every cup you hold should be worth the trip.

02

The space shapes the experience

A great drink in an uncomfortable space is only half a cafe. We designed every corner of the Kurabu to make you feel at ease, from the texture of the chairs to the warmth of the lighting.

03

Comfort is a form of care

Whether you're here for a quick pick-me-up or a full afternoon work session, we show up with the same attentiveness — because you deserve a place that actually feels like it's for you.

04

Curiosity keeps us evolving

Matcha London Fog, Coconut Matcha Cloud, Tiramisu Affogato — we keep experimenting because the best drink might be the one we haven't perfected yet. Expect new things on the menu as we learn.

05

All are welcome at the Kurabu

We built a pet-friendly, work-friendly, family-friendly space on purpose. The Kurabu isn't exclusive — it's a neighborhood cafe, and every neighbor deserves to feel at home here.
